Los Angeles, CA – Dysonna City Art Gallery is proud to present Robert Tyler: A Creative Road from Animation to Fine Art, a solo exhibition celebrating the artistic journey of Robert Tyler, an Emmy Award–winning animator whose creative career spans over four decades.
Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, Tyler’s earliest inspirations came from a teacher who worked as a cel painter at Walt Disney Studios. By the late 1960s, Tyler had joined Disney himself, learning directly from legendary animators including Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, and Eric Larson. His career flourished as he contributed to studios such as Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, Warner Bros., and Chuck Jones Productions, ultimately earning an Emmy for his work on The Simpsons.
After more than 40 years in animation, Tyler turned to fine art as a new creative chapter. His paintings, inspired by landscapes, music, culture, and memory, bring bold storytelling and visual rhythm to canvas. Working primarily in oils and block painting, Tyler translates the motion and imagination of animation into works of striking stillness and depth.
